Kayla Ente will be a guest lecturer at the Free University Brighton which has teamed up with Brighton People’s Assembly to present The People’s Assembly ‘Uncovered’. An afternoon of educational activities about austerity and the alternatives. We are going ‘undercover’ to be more visible! From 4.30pm the event will be open to the public and hosted by Michaela Strachen and Cooperatives UK. This will feature a series of interesting talks on community energy initiatives and is sure to inspire and kick-start lots of action within our communities. Community energy day showcases the work of community energy groups throughout Sussex, exploring planning policy around solar, community energy and community ownership.

Ecotricity is in the final testing stages of producing a new verticle axis wind turbine design that they claim may be 40% more efficient than similar sized microturbines on the market. This is good news for windy communities like Brighton & Hove where smaller turbines could meet local planning requirements. The Urbine is 15 meters tall, 6kW output turbine. BHESCo works with British manufacturers, assessing the economic attractiveness of micro-generation technologies to help people become more energy independent.
