This commitment is embedded in BHESCo’s innovative approach, which involves collaboration with leading industry and technology partners, along with academics focused on fuel poverty alleviation and energy justice.

We provide independent expertise to clients who wish to reduce their carbon footprint and cut their energy costs with thermally efficient buildings and clean, affordable, community-owned energy. In 8 years BHESCo has completed 64 projects that will collectively reduce CO2 emissions by over 7,500 tonnes during their lifetime and provide clients with financial savings of £1.7m. What's is like being a BHESCO volunteer?

“Being a part of BHESCo and the broader community-energy movement is a radical act, the full impact of which we have yet to fully comprehend.”

“Small cooperatives with genuinely innovative solutions and business structures have the potential to alter energy consumption on a wide scale. BHESCo provides an inspirational service to the local community and simultaneously benefits the planet as a whole. Although my volunteering plays a tiny part, it is fantastic to be involved in this enthusiastic and dedicated team who are achieving groundbreaking work.”

“Working with BHESCo during my summer vacation was the best volunteer experience so far. I can learn environmental justice, policy and management at UC Berkeley, but the best way to understand the actual process of reducing local greenhouse gas was to work for BHESCo. Surrounded by passionate and hard-working BHESCo members truly inspired me and made me think about what I’m going to do in the future to preserve Earth’s natural resources.”

“ I definitely have you all to thank for providing me such a rich and interesting learning experience to feed into it.”

Please tell us why you want to become a volunteer, what it is that you would be interested in doing and what skills you can bring and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
