When we talk about a clean energy future, we’re not talking about abstract notions many years down the line. We’re talking about places like Dyke Golf Club in Brighton who are embracing clean energy technologies here and now.
Only a few years ago, their maintenance shed ran on a diesel generator: noisy, expensive, and highly polluting. Today, thanks to a 7.7 kW rooftop solar array and battery storage system designed and installed by BHESCo, the shed now runs on clean, renewable energy. This installation is expected to deliver around £9,254 in lifetime savings and reduce approximately 45 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over its operational life.
And this is only the beginning. BHESCo has proposed a larger 37 kWp ‘in-roof’ solar system for the main clubhouse, a project projected to save around £195,094 and reduce carbon emissions by 88 tonnes over its lifetime.
Not only does the in-roof system look more aesthetically pleasing (an important factor as the building is located within the South Downs National Park) but it also addresses the problem the clubhouse had with wind-driven rain causing leaks during heavy downpours.
