Over the last decade, BHESCo have developed more than sixty-five community energy projects with the help of our investors and partners.

All of these projects deliver significant cost and carbon savings for our customers. However there are a few projects that really stand out as providing exceptional value.

Let’s take a look at some of our ‘best in class’…

Brunswick Primary School

76kWh rooftop solar PV

System installed: 2020

Average savings per year: £12,600

Cumulative CO2 savings: 66.7 tonnes

Reduction in electricity use from the grid: 43%

Saltdean Primary School

50kWh rooftop solar PV

System installed: 2019

Average savings per year: £8,800

Cumulative CO2 savings: 62 tonnes

Reduction in electricity use from the grid: 41%

Varndean College

50kWh rooftop solar PV

System installed: 2019

Average savings per year: £8,600

Cumulative CO2 savings: 62.7 tonnes

Reduction in electricity use from the grid: 15%

When we take an average of these three projects, we can see that the volume of electricity purchased from energy suppliers through the grid has declined by by a third.

This has instead been replaced by on-site electricity generated by the solar panels, which are owned and operated by BHESCo. The solar electricity that is sold to the schools is significantly cheaper than the rates charged by commercial energy suppliers, which is why the schools make long-term savings year on year.

This all equates to valuable savings for our local schools, freeing up money every year which can be spent on staff and supplies.

If you are involved with a school, a community organisation, or a business that would like to investigate the benefits of partnering with BHESCo to install solar power at no upfront cost, then please complete the short enquiry form below, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
